NJBEST Scholarship

NJBEST offers a scholarship rewarding you for savings.

Although NJBEST assets can be used at any Title IV eligible U.S. college or university,2 students who pursue higher education in New Jersey can receive an extra benefit for their freshman year—a tax-free scholarship.

The longer you contribute at or above minimum contribution levels, the higher the scholarship for beneficiaries. After you qualify for a $500 scholarship, further contributions cause the scholarship to increase by $250 every 2 years up to a maximum of $1,500.

To qualify for the scholarship, the contributor or beneficiary must be a New Jersey resident and the beneficiary must enroll as a first semester undergraduate freshman at a New Jersey college or university. One scholarship per beneficiary and per plan will be awarded. The minimum contribution and time period must be completed before the student starts college. Please click here to access the "NJBEST Scholarship" section of the Investor Handbook for more information.

Use the NJBEST Scholarship Request form to apply.

Investors should carefully consider plan investment goals, risks, charges and expenses before investing. To obtain the Investor Handbook, which contains this and other information, call Franklin Templeton Distributors, Inc., the manager and underwriter for the plan, at 1-877/4NJBEST or click here. You should read the Investor Handbook carefully before investing and consider whether your or the beneficiary's home state offers any state tax or other benefits that are only available for investments in its qualified tuition program.
